Welcome to our school's website.

Drung (No.2) Central N.S. is a co-educational primary school. We have a current enrolment of 19 children, taught by 2 mainstream class teachers and a Special Education team (2 teachers). Small class numbers ensure attention for all pupils and a caring, family atmosphere where every child is valued.

Our school is situated opposite the Church of Ireland Church, in the village of Drung, just outside of Cavan town. Drung takes its name from the beautiful drumlin hills that form a backdrop to the school. The pupils make use of the extensive grounds surrounding the school in supporting the delivery of the Primary School Curriculum. As a school community, we are very proud of our grounds and school building, which are warm and welcoming and provide an environment that encourages learning and nurtures creativity. Our school has a well-resourced, accessible building, with ample parking to ensure safety at the start and end of the school day.

A highly dedicated, enthusiastic staff manage teaching and learning in our school. We seek to create a happy, secure environment in which each child discovers the joy of learning, gains self-confidence, self-respect and the necessary skills in order to achieve their potential and to successfully meet the challenges and opportunities of their life. Staff strive to promote respect and good relations amongst pupils by modelling respect when interacting with the children.

The school is an advocate of using digital technology as an exciting classroom tool. Our school has been a pioneer over the past number of years in integrating digital technology in to the school curriculum. Our classrooms are equipped with, and make extensive use of interactive whiteboards, visualisers, laptops and iPads. Our school was recognised recently for its efforts in the use of digital technologies when it was designated as a Digital School of Distinction. Teachers have undertaken extensive training in the use of digital technologies and integrate its use into every part of the school curriculum.
